Hello,

My name is Lewis Parish, an inmate currently incarcerated at A Maximum Security Level 5 at Baraga Correctional Facility (AMF) in Baraga, Michigan. I served a 6 year segregational HOLD due to an assault that happened at a different facility called (SRF) Saginaw Correctional Facility in February of 2014, I was finally released only because Lansing Directors were forced to change the limit on how long one inmate should be held in a Segregational confinement due to bed space & over crowd prisons. In the time I was held in segregation, I suffered from loss of weight, stomach pains in which I have to take medication for called “Protonix”, I was forced to multiple Flops & the enability to attend in my recommended Programs that would have granted my Parole 4 years sooner than I would have NOW.

During SEG, I dealt with negative thoughts & depression, I felt hopeless & contemplated suicide & was send to observation cells. Ive talked with doctors, staff, pych’s & counselors who were of NO help excepted added agitation. I was limited family support due to how the mailing process worked, if your family couldn't write, we were left to suffer cause the facilities DONT have kiosk machines in segregation to send Jpay messages to loved ones. Phone priveliges were for those who held specific stages so we couldn't call all the time, so I was miserable, most of the years I spent in segregation. 

During that long in segregation I built up so much anger that once I was released I didn’t know how to properly communicate with inmates or staff, making it difficult to fuction around them without feeling unsure about them. Trust issues are always on alert & I fear for my safty ALL THE TIME. 

I'm currently on a deferral due to a class I have to take called VPP (Violence Prevention Program) that is constantly getting cancelled or shut down, due to COVID testing. This class started in June, but due to Covid testing it has been delayed on & off about 6 or 7 times & Ive only attended maybe 2 weeks worth of Sessions but its a 6 to 9 month class before I can get released from Prison & it's mandatory by the state. So I'm currently stuck in Prison held by a class I can take in the street. This is NOT fair because like I said Im NOT on a Flop, so Im in 

Prison doing Time that DONT COUNT.

Please Help Me & get my Messages out because I've put my faith in just about everything. All I want is my Freedom & Im tired of people talking about ACTION & NO ACTION is being conducted, God Bless!!!
